Why does the letter “Q” always have to be accompanied by the letter “U”? Q is a strong independent letter that doesn’t need some filthy vowel to go around telling it what to do!

You think that’s odd. The letters U and V used to be used the other way round. V used to be pronounced as a U. W is pronounced as a double-U and not a double-V.
